My grandmother was born Nellie McClusky in Illinois, USA. Her father was George McClusky. Records show he was born in Illinois too in 1859 but my grandmother said she thought he came as a baby from Ireland with his father Jack McClusky, who was born around 1835 in Londonderry County. Jack was married to Sarah Fagg whose birthplace is listed as Scotland. I would appreciate any help tracing my family.

Hi
You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/
Also this is another informative site http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname
Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.
Kind regards,
