Hi Samuel
My ancestors were Samuel DOUGLAS (son of William) and Jane GUY (daughter of Matthew), who married 7 Sep 1799. Samuel was of Parish of Bovevagh, Jane was of Parish of Leek. We have a copy of their Marriage Agreement.
They were both buried in Bovevagh Graveyard. Headstone says: "To Jane wife of Samuel DOUGLAS died 18 October 1848 aged 68. Also said Samuel died 15 April 1860 aged 84".
Two of their sons, William & George Alexander DOUGLAS, travelled to New Zealand, as well as 3 children of another brother, Mathew DOUGLAS, in the 1860's.
Trying to find more about the DOUGLAS family in Bovevagh - other children & siblings of Samuel, and other ancestors.
Much appreciated
