Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking at Church records? Most Catholic records are held locally, one website which may help you however, is the irishtimes. Here they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Dungiven parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check
http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
http://www.nationalarchives.ie/
http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history/family_history_key_sources.htm
Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland records are also currently being uploaded to www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html free of charge. However, this is an ongoing project so not all records are available there yet.
You could also check the Griffith's Valuation for John's parents. This was a land survey carried out in Ireland between 1848 and 1864. You can search this here:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation
Do you know where in Ireland Catherine's parents were born/lived? Once you have the parish it will be easier to find information on them.
Other websites which may help you with your search are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
Family Search: https://familysearch.org/
Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,

You can examine the Catholic church records for Dungiven parish at http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0366 and the baptisms include 1853. They are difficult to read but I see one: 1853, Dec ?3rd, baptised John, to Manus and ?Peggy Kane, White Mountain, sponsors Michael Lynn and Martha McClosky. You might find other baptisms to the same couple. Unfortunately the parish marriage records do not start until 1864.
You might also look at Dungiven graveyard at http://www.irishgraveyards.ie/ I see a Michael Lynn there.
Also Dungiven valuation records at http://apps.proni.gov.uk/Val12B/Search.aspx (type Cluntygeeragh )
Hope this helps.
