Hi everyone

I am trying to find more details of my great grandfather Andrew Holmes.  His Army papers say he was born in Lissan in 1867 and was a Presbyterian.  He enlisted in 1888 at Fort Leith in Scotland so I don't know how long he stayed in Lissan. His father is named as John on his marriage certificate but I have no details of his mother.

If anyone has any details of a Holmes family living in Lissan in the 1860's I would be very grateful.

Kind regards

Liz

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Civil registration for births in Ireland started in 1864. I was unable to locate a birth for Andrew Holmes in Co. Derry around 1867. The 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Lissan civil parish did not show any Holmes records.

Sorry, I could not find any records related to your ancestor.
