William McGrath of Mullanboy, Farmer, married Susan Cather of Dungorman, Servant, dated 23rd May 1860, Church of Ireland, Donaghmore Parish.

Husbands Father: William McGrath, Wifes Father: John Cather.

Witness 1 Margaret Hare, Witness 2 William Cather.

I have also found both William McGraths and a Thomas McGrath recorded in the Griffith Valuation of  1857.

I'm trying to find out where either William or Susan were born or where they might have come from.

Cheers, Richard

  • Many thanks for your reply and any help you can provide.

I tried the link but received an Error HTTP 404 message.

Incidentially there was a William Cather 57 years old in the 1901 Census living in Dungorman, if it is the same person as the witness to the marriage that would of made him about 17 or 18 years old when he attended the wedding in 1860. A very weak possibility but a possibility all the same.

    Cheers, Richard

  • Hi Richard,

Thanks for bringing the error to my attention. It appears the church website has been updated so I have changed the link accordingly to http://www.derry.anglican.org/?p=121

I will let you know if and when I get information for you.

    Regards,
