Hi. Can anyone help me find the Carton (Cartin/Carten/Cartan) family.
It is thought they came from Muff / Carrigans before our line moved to Derry.
Some records state The Rock? Carrigan's I believe means Little Rock?
Any and all help appreciated

You might want to have a look at the Tithe Applotments (1823-37) & free on line
There are 2 Cartins in Donegal - both William in 1830 Townland Drumacloghan parish Tullyfern
There are no Cartons, Cartens or Cartansd in Donegal but lots in other counties
Griffiths Valuation 1848-64 also free has only 1 - a Thomas CARTON in Donegal
The Irish census 1911 (free) has lots of Cartans and McCartans (none in Donegal) 35 Cartens (0 in D'gal) 195 Cartins (a few in D'gl but most in Londonderry) Carton 700 in Dublin
www.rootsireland.ie/ has 5000+ Cartins & surname variants birth/baptism records in all counties with 31 in Donegal starting in 1804
