Hello.  Seeking information about Frank Mundy born c.1820 in Donegal but I don't know which parish.  He emigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he maried Bridget Early.  Frank is my gggrandfather.  Thanks, Don

  • Hi Don,

I found a Jane Mundy on the Griffiths valuation in the parish of Inver, Co. Donegal.  This was a valuation of land ownership taken during the 1800's.  The date on Jane Mundy's valuation is 1857.

Have you looked at the familysearch.org website.  You may be able to find the parish or the registery district from the birth indexes.

  • Hi Eimer

Thanks very much for the information on Jane Mundy.  I know very little about my Frank Mundy except that he emigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania sometime in the 1800s and married (in Ireland or in America, I don't know which) one Bridget Early.  Our next trip to Ireland will definitely include a visit to Donegal!

Are you with Ireland Reaching Out?  I'm a volunteer with IrelandXO for the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area.  We'll be having a meet and greet featuring Henry Healy when he's in town next month, hoping to connect him with Irish American groups and some genealogists in the area.

Thanks again for getting in touch, and I look forward to keeping in contact with you.

    Kind regards,

    Don

  • Hi Don,

I also volunteer with Ireland Reaching Out answering queries for Co. Donegal and giving a few presentations for them.

I really enjoy helping people with their family research.  I am currently doing an internship with the Donegal Diaspora Project - and help with the running of the website.  If you want to find out a little more about Donegal and what is happening check out the website.  www.donegaldiaspora.ie

I will have another look around for you and if I find anything I will let you know.

    Regards,

    Eimer
