Decendant of "James Haggerty"; born in 1816, in Glenswilly, County Donegal.  James and his brother "Bryan" emigrated to the United States in 1849.  There was another brother "Patrick".  James was a friend of "Michael Corcoran" and served with him (albeit breifly) in the US Civil War as Captain of Company A in the 69th New York State Militia.  James was killed in action, Battle of Bull Run, July 21st, 1861.  Father John Campbell was Glenswilly's resident curate from 1840 - 1850; not sure which parish he represented. Any assistance would be sincerely appreciated!  Thank you!

  • Hello,

The area of Glenswilly is located in the Parish of Conwal just outside Letterkenny.

I found this on Griffiths Valuation on the askaboutireland.ie website.

It will help you find the area John Campbell lived in when the Valuation was taken.

    Regards,
