I am trying to find information about my Irish roots, without much luck. I decend from William McClure, 1806-1857, who married Sarah McAlwein (not sure on the surname of spelling as it is hard to read on certificates). His son David (married to Margaret Ross) migrated to Australia, 1840-1897, as well as two daughters, Sarah (married Robert Learmonth) and Isabella (married Thomas Malcolm). While Mary Anne (married William Porter), William (married to Isabella ?) and Elizabeth (married George Baldrick) stayed in Donegal. His brother was the Reverend Francis McClure. Other immediate family and nieces and nephews migrated to Indiana in the USA.

Any help would be appreciated!

  • Hi Emily

There is a baptism record of William McClure 1807 Donegal on www.rootsireland.ie/

The record, which costs to view will have the parish and MAYBE his parents' names.

There is also a record of the marriage of William McClure to Sarah McIlwaine 1830 in Donegal.
