My 4th great grandfather is Thomas Patton b 1765 Montgomery county, Virginia. His father is believed to be Thomas Patton Sr b 1715 Springfield Manor, Kilmacrenan, Donegal, Ireland. It is also believed that Thomas Sr descends from the Rev William Patton b 1590 Ferrochie, Fifeshire, Scotland and Margaret Unknown. It is believed that Rev William Patton was rector of the parishes of Ramoigh and Clonmary, the Barony of Raphoe and later at Aughnish, the Barony of Kilmacrenan. According to the book "James Patton and the Appalachian Colonists" by Particia G Johnson, Rev William Patton lived at an estate name "Groghan" where sons Henry and John were reared.
Trying to determined if my Thomas Patton Sr may descend from Henry's son Henry Jr who married Sarah Lynn. Thru DNA connections it appears this may be the case. Would like to know more about this Patton family and connect with anyone who descends from this line especially if they have done DNA testing. I'm on FTDNA and GEDMatch.
My connection is thru the female Patton line, Rhoda Patton b 1816 Cumberland county, Kentucky/d 1891 Jackson county, Tennessee, daughter of Thomas Patton of VA and Nelly Elender Cecil.

Hello there. I, too, am working on William Patton and Henry Pattons family tree. William was my 8th ggf. I have seen several sources (including you) saying he was pastor at ClonaRy Parish, but I can only find a ClonmaNy Parish. Is Clonmany what you actually mean? I would like to visit the location, and I don't want to go the wrong place!
I do have a Thomas Patton listed under Henry Jr., although my tree is a mess right now with way too many people listed, and I need to narrow it down and clean it up. There is also one under Henry Jrs son, John J, who is in my line. What is the date of the Thomas you are looking for?
