Hi, I am trying to find out anything of hannah McLaughlin who died Derry 31 Aug 1867 aged about 35. The proprietor of the grave is a James Mclaughlin of Porthaw Buncrana.
I have no idea of their relationship and, although Hannah was buried in a Carton family grave I can't find her connection with them.
Can anyone help?
Also, a number of Carton family members have places of birth or living The Rock. Can anyone help me locate this area? On all family records that I have seen so far not one specifies if The Rock is in Derry or Donegal somewhere.

Jacqui,
Looking at the GRONI site, I don?t see a Hannah McLaughlin death on 31.8.1867 regd in Londonderry. However there was an Annie McL aged 28 who died on that date. Annie and Hannah are interchangeable, so I?d guess that?s her. The death certificate should tell you her marital status, address etc and the informant?s details might be helpful. You can view the certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the ?search registrations? option:
(You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs ?2 to a view a certificate).
There?s a townland called The Rock in the parish of Inishkeel in Co Donegal. Part of Glenties. Not sure if that?s the place you are looking for though. No sign of any Carton families there in Griffiths or the 1901 census.

Hi Jacqui & Elwyn
There are 2 Robert Carltons in Donegal in the Tithe Applotments in 1826: townland Glencosh parish Clonleigh
There are also 10 in the 1831 Irish Census - all in Derry - & 22 in the 1851 Census - all in Antrim.
