My husband has traced his line back to Jeremiah Higgins (b. Abt 1765 - d. 24 May 1826) and his wife, Mary Montgomery (b. Abt 1780 - d. 1845). Their son, James Higgins was born in Belleek, County Donegal about 1809. He died 3 Feb 1843 in Illinois, USA. Information found on ancestry.com indicates that Jeremiah was descended from Baron Sean Duff O'Higgins and his wife, Margaret O'Conor. Would appreciate it if anyone knows which parish this family was from along with any other information on the Higgins/O'Higgins and Montgomery families.
