Hi all,
I am looking for more information on the Stafford Family who, I believe, moved to Ebchester in the North East of England from Donegal in the late 1860's.
Joseph Stafford m Mary Jane McGennis in Taughboyne c1849
They had - Joseph b1853 Ireland
The following were all born in England
Robert John b 1857
William b 1861
Mary Ellanor 1865
Matthew 1867
Samuel 1869
Alexander 1871

Would love to find any relations/further information on my family
Thanks in anticipation

Emma,
I don't have any information on Staffords, except that my father matches the Stafford name on yDNA tests.
Do you have any direct-line male Staffords still alive?
Has any of them had a yDNA test done? At Family Tree DNA (FTDNA.com) preferably.
Using this in conjunction with IrishOriGENES.com can confirm or deny the Irish location.

That said, what are you looking for? Contemporary Staffords in Donegal?
Given that this is an Irish board, are you looking for BMD for the senior Staffords? On the English side, the family should be in the English censuses starting with 1851.

Thanks for posting. This is the first I heard of Staffords being found in Ireland rather than Scotland or England.

Hi Emma,
I had a look on www.rootsireland.ie and found this. In order to see the actual record you will have to purchase credit and pay for it.
I found that Joseph Stafford and Mary Jane McGennis had two other children in Ireland.
Isabella Jane in 1853 and Mary Jane 1856.
According to Joseph and Mary Jane's marriage cert (which you prob have) Joseph's father was called Joseph Stafford and Mary Jane's father was called John.

According this census record of 1901 there is a Catherine Stafford living in St. Johnston which is really close to the Taughboyne area.

These are all the Staffords living in Donegal in 1901
These are all the Staffords living in Donegal in 1911
