My Great Grandfather Francis Sloan son of James(farm labourer)and Catherine Hale
Francis was born 1862 and was a masons labourer
I believe they were from Donegal ?.
I Would be grateful for any information to help me in my search.

Hi Danny,
The only baptism/birth record on www.rootsireland.ie/ around 1862 for Francis Sloan is in Down in 1858.
The parents are not James and Catherine however.
The only marriage record of James Sloan and Catherine Hale on rootsireland is 1848 in Armagh.
There are 4 matches for children of James Sloan and Catherine Hale:
Hugh 1849 Margaret 1851 Mary 1853 James 1855 all in Armagh
In Griffiths Valuation which is free to search online has a James Sloan in Donegal in 1857
There are 4 James Sloans in Armagh in Griffiths (1864)
The Tithe Applotments has 2 John Sloans in Armagh 1827 but none in Donegal.
I couldn't find any relevant family trees on ancestry although one had Sloans and Hales marrying in Antrim in the 1700's.
