William Boyle, born 23 April, 1907 in Ballymichael, Clondavaddog Parish.  Father James Boyle, Mother Bridget Callaghan. James and Bridget Married 3 February 1902in Balloor, Fannett Parish.

Rose Ellen Logue, born 8 May, 1905 in Carrowreagh, Clondavaddog Parish. Father John Logue, Mother Margaret McCloskey. John and Margaret Married 13 July 1895 in Carrowreath. maybe Rathmullan Parish Church?

Any Leads or Tips on where to start my start my search when we get there would be much appreciated.

  • I just learned that Fannett is an older name for Fanad.  Does this seem correct?

  • Hello,

Are you looking to find ancestors or descendants of the Boyles and Logues?

I do know that there are Logues still living in that area - I don't actually live there but know a few that do and have heard the name Logue while visiting the Fanad area.

Have you tried the Irish Census records?

Another good website that I'm sure will help you is Donegal Genealogy Resources

    I hope this helps

  • I am actually looking for both close living relatives and ancestors.  I have tried the Census site but not the Rootsweb site.  Thank you for your reponse.

    Sincerely,

    Michael

  • Census:

Couldn't tell if you found them in the 1911 census or not.  I saw what looks like both families::

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Donegal/Fanad_North/Ba…

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Donegal/Knockalla/Carr…

Posting the full sibling lists on some message boards might find you some relatives.

    Other sites:

Did you see the Ballymichael school register on the Rootsweb site?  I love the picture of the school:

Here's a Fanad website that might also be helpful:

Good luck and have a great trip

  • Thank you Cindy,  I do have the Cenus records, I should have been more clear.  The other two websites are new to me, thank you.

  • Cathy,

The Ballymichael school roster is very interesting.  I believe you may have led me to all four Boyle children. The ages I have are from the Census and they are within a year or two for Michael, Mary, William and Hannah.

    Thank you!

  • Cathy,  I wanted to thank you again.  Through the Ballymichael National School website, I have been able to contact Donal and he is very familar with the Boyles and Callaghan's and will be sending me some great information.  Thank you.

  • Thanks great.  I would never have thought to contact the local National School, but that makes so much sense.  They'd be as aware of the local families as the parish priests.  Good luck.
