We have been doing genealogy for my husband's line which came from Donegal. His grandfather, Edward Quinn (abt. 1842 to July 30, 1904) was married to Catherine Cassidy (abt. 1846-Nov. 20, 1904). Edward was from Ought, Drumhome, Ballintra, Donegal and Catherine from Leghowney, Donegal.
In the1901 Census find them living in Laghy, Donegal and both of them are listed to have died in Rossilly Barr, Donegal.
We would like to find out who Catherine's parents were and any information about them or her siblings. Also wonder if there are any Cassidy's still in the area.
We are planning a trip to Ireland in June andwouldlove to make any connections that we can.
Thanks,
Delsa Quinn

Delsa:
Welcome back. The couple was married in 1866. Both were shown as age 20. Fathers were Dony Quinn and Michael Cassidy. Possibly Dony was Dany or Daniel. Note the 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing shows a Daniel Sr. and Jr. in Rossilly Barr http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/donegal/drumhome.htm

Delsa,
I looked in the current phone book. There are 65 people named Cassidy listed in Co. Donegal. None in or very near to Leghowney (sometimes Leghawney). There’s a few near Donegal town. Closest might be a James in Birchhill, which is near Barnesmore Gap.
Probably worth knocking on afew doors int he area in case a locla knowns of someone who is ex-directory or whose maiden name was Cassidy.
