  • No Begleys listed as farming in Cleenagh in 1831 in the tithe applotment records. Griffiths Valuation for 1857 shows Daniel Begley farming plot 5 in Cleenagh, which was a house, outbuildings and 16 acres of arable land plus 16 acres of bog.

Just two deaths in Inishowen that might fit, between 1864 and 1901. Apr ? Jun 1884 aged 88, and Oct ? Dec 1887 aged 66.

This is the only Begley farm in Cleenagh in 1911 and is presumably his family:

    And in 1911:

I looked for the marriage of Patrick Begley to Mary which was around 1879 according to the 1911 census. Only marriage I can see in Inishowen was 1874 Vol 2, page 192. To Mary Donaghy or to Mary Anne Gill. You would need to order a copy of the cert to find out. It should also show Patrick?s father who might be Daniel.

Cleenagh is in the RC parish of Desertegney. Unfortunately they have no baptism records earlier than 1864 so no help there.

Patrick & Letitia married in 1831. They and Catherine appear in the 1851 census for Ballymagan (information derived from Catherine?s old age pension application, made pre 1922). See:
