I now think my 2x great grandparents Patrick McGinley and Catherine Molloy came from either the townland of Drum (Union Glenties) or Meenacharvy (Union Glenties). They had at least one son that immigrated to America in 1843, Michael Andrew McGinley. His birth is March 25, 1833 and died in Virginia on April 23, 1906. Anyone having information on this family please contact me.

Hi Dianne,
Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you.
Unfortunately, Catholic records for the parish start very late so it may be difficult to find records pertaining to the family:
It may be an idea to contact Donegal Ancestry Centre to see if they can be of any assistance. Please note however that a fee may apply. Here is their email:
You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
