Hi All,
My name is Robert, and I live in the suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
I am trying to gather information on my relatives (G G Grandfather) James Byrne & Margaret Byrne nee Kennedy.
Their son Patrick Byrne, (1828 - 1912) was born in Inishkeel, Donegal, Ireland and later emigrated to Australia and specifically the the state of Victoria, and in the township of Modewarre, located 89km South West of Melbourne.
He married in 1867, at Duneed, Victoria and young lady named Catherine Mullane.
Sadly I have nothing more about Patricks father other than his son's birth in Inishkeel, so I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this family.
Regards, Robert (Tullamarine, Victoria, Australia)

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Unfortunately, the RC records for Ardara parish do not start until 1867. Almost all of the RC parishes in Donegal have records starting after 1850. So no baptismal record is available.
I did check the 1833 Tithe listings for Inishkeel parish and found a record for a Jams Burns in Common townland. Possibly this is for the father of Patrick. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/reels/tab//004587450/00… There are two townlands in the parish Common and Common Mountain both relatively small around 150 acres each.
The 1901 census for Common http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Glengesh/Common/ had one Byrne household with an unmarried brother and sister and another houshold had a 70 year old boarder named Dan Byrne. No families in Common Mountain.
A few leads for you. Let me know if you have questions. You may also want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
