So far, I have information on the family of Henry Tunney, married to Anne Mulhern in January 1865. I have found their nine children; James(1865), Mary(1867), Anna(1869), Owen(1871), Catherine(1874), Briget(1877), Margaret(1879), Henry and Patrick(1882).
I am descendant from Mary, who immigrated to New York and married Patrick Loakman/Lockman.
I am looking for the parents of Henry Tunney and Anne Mulhern. On their marriage record, Henry's father is listed as John and Anne's is Thomas.
Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Hi Cecile,
I've had no luck tryg to find anything to do with Henry's or Anne's parents.
But I can refer you to a few websites.
Donegal Library Service - http://www.donegallibrary.ie/ They are very helpful with genealogy queries.
Ballyshannon Musings - http://ballyshannon-musings.blogspot.ie/
Donegal Genealogy Resources - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/
I will keep looking and if I find anything I will post it here.
I wish you all the best with your research.
Kind regards,

From death records a Thomas Mulhern of the Ballyshannon district died in 1865 (age 80) vol 7, page 3.
Thomas is a very common Mulhern first name. I would be interested to know which townland your Thomas was from, as my own Mulhern family from Mayo was originally from Donegal.
Owen is the same as John, by the way.

I think you will find information about Tunney’s if you search Griffiths Valuation on the askaboutireland.ie website. The spelling of the surname is Tunny on the valuation and the townland is Tullymore, Parish of Kilbarron, Union of Ballyshannon and Barony of Tirhugh. I know there is a Geraghty family still living in Tullymore who are related to this Tunney Family.
