My ancestor, Thomas Carscadden, emigrated to Canada in the 1840s. Information on him is lacking but he appears to have been born about 1783. He was married to a Mary Gartley. They had 2 sons and 6 daughters. The oldest son Arthur emigrated first and the remainder of the family, except the mother who had died, emigrated later. The oldest son Arthur, born about 1811, emigrated first. second son, andrew, was born about 1815. I have a church record for an Andrew Corscadden who was baptized Aug 5, 1819 , Church of Ireland. Address given was Largymore, Kilcar.

I see that there are Corscadden and Gartley surnames in Griffith's valuations in 1850s in Kilcar and wonder if there are still Corscaddens in the area now.

In Canada, the name Corscadden was changed to Carscadden around 1900.
