Looking for any information on my g/g/grandparents, Andrew Campbell born around 1919 and Mary Ann nee Grove and their extended family/s Two of their sons, James, b.1849 and George b1856, emigrated to New Zealand in 1874. On James' death certificate the Townland of Ballyderlan (Ballyederlan) is listed as to where they lived, Co. Donegal & province of Ulster.

I can't find any information on Mary Ann, nee Grove so have no idea if she came from the same area, although it doesn't appear so, as the surname Grove doesn't feature. James & George are listed as Farm Labourers on the emigration document.

Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi Janet,

There is a record of the baptism of Andrew Campbell 1814 Donegal on www.rootsireland.ie/

There is also a baptism record of Mary GroveS 1824 in Donegal; there is no record of their marriage however.

It costs to view the full record on rootsireland but the baptisms would have the fathers' names and the parish.

There are 187 Campbells in Donegal in the Tithe Applotments 1825-1834 but no Grove or Groves. The Tithes are free to search online. If you got the father's name & parish from the baptism records you might find them on the Tithes.
