The only information linking me to the SMYTH family is a newspaper marriage notice (Dec 1875).
The notice said, in part, . . . " to Margaret Jane Smyth, daughter of Mr Wm. Smyth, millower, Raphoe."
The Scottish marriage certificate indicated that both William Smyth and his wife Eliza Crookhall were deceased in 1875 at the time of their daughter's marriage to James Pattison.
I am looking for others researching, or with links to, the SMYTH or CROOKHALL families in Raphoe.
It would be great to know:
- when William Smyth and Eliza (Crookhall) Symth died
- what mill did William own
- when Margaret Jane Smyth was born (it was somewhere around 1853)
Thank you, in advance, for any assistance, or suggestions

Michael,
I had a look in Griffiths Valuation and there are no Crookhall households anywhere in Ireland (c 1850). Likewise in the 1901 census, anywhere in Ireland. Could William Smyth have met his wife outside Ireland? If not, all I can suggest is that her maiden name, as it appears on the Scottish certificate may not be how the name was spelled in Ireland. Can?t suggest what it was though.
You don?t say what denomination the Smyth family were. But if you do know, it might be wroth checking the church baptism records to see if you can locate the family that way. Copies of all the main denominations are held in PRONI in Belfast. The RC records are also in the National Library in Dublin (due to go on-line in July). Some of the records are also on rootsireland (subscription).
