My Great Grandfather John Campbell  married Ann McMenamin (FATHER PATRICK MCMENAMIN) in Stranorlar 22nd August 1864 according to Civil Marriage Record. The Civil Marriage Record says John Campble/Camble resides Carnamarin but I can't find this place and suspect there's an error - It also states  John Campble's father is named as Patrick which I think is also wrong as daughter wrote on death certificate in 1884 that John's father was William and his wife's name was Catherine Gallacher. John was killed on railway line between NITSHILL and BARRHEAD in Glasgow March 1884 aged 44 years.

His Father (John's) my Great Great Grandfather the alleged  William/John? Campbell was ALIVE in 1884 and occupation given as  FARMER.and that his wife Catherine Gallacher was deceased at that time

John Campbell my great grandfather and wife  Anne ( McMenamin - McMenemy from Corraghamone)) had seven children. Their oldest daughter was MARY ANN born 1864 Stranorlar, went to school in Stranorlar. I have seen the name Campbell spelt as Cample when Mary Ann's Grandfather Patrick McMenamin took her to be registered at school . Patrick 1866 Cambuslang, Catherine 1868 Glasgow, 1870 Elizabeth, Isabella 1872, William 1874 and John 1876. Patrick was born March 16th 1866 and baptised in St Columbkilles Rutherglen Glasgow but I cannot find a birth certificate. John his brother I believe moved to West Lothbian but cant find him everything else is OK

They moved to Scotland about 1864 -1866 - Lived Glasgow  ( Castle Street ) then  Cambuslang thereafter  Eaglesham and  Nitshill.before settling in BARRHEAD

Children's names (my Great Aunts and Uncles) were

Mary Ann,(Born Ireland) - Patrick, Catherine, Isabella, Elizabeth, John and William.

I know my Grandfather William Campbell visited STRANORLAR? or could it be CARNAMARIN  between 28th September and 3rd October 1944 during WW11 - I have seen the travel permit - so it must have been important.I have a suspicion it was the death of his brother PATRICK whom I suspect returned to Ireland about 1881-1890

Isabella lived Glasgow and married a widower from Duntocher

My Grandfather had 11 daughters 1 son my father WILLIAM - brought up mainly Nitshill/Barrhead

Those who lived,

Helen  (Cowe),  Jane  (Unwed),  Isabella ( McGinn)),  Anne (May),   Hannah (Greenaway),   Elizabeth (Grant), Catherine (Symington), MaryFrances (McQuade) and  William Campbell

June 2022 UPDATE

Made a correction to Isabella McGinn

Mary Anne Cample/Campbell( Born  May 5TH 1864 Stranorlar) when she died in Glasgow ( Maryanne ROBERTS)  her Father wwas named as

John Campble from CARNAMANAGH? mother Anne McMenamin CORRAGHOMONE

on CIVIL MARRIAGE RECORD John Campble ihis address is given  CARNAMARIN and his wife ANNE MCMENAMIN as CORRAGHAMON

They had THREE sons  - PATRICK oldest then WILLIAM and lastly JOHN. QUESTION - Why would thwey name the WILLIAM before his brother |JOHN  considering father was named JOHN.

When JOHN CAMPBELL SENIOR DIED 1884 NITSHILL his daughter Mary Anne named his parents as WILLIAM CAMPBELL and CATHERINE Gallagher ( from GLENTIES???)
