Down records are not included in an Irish Census until 1851 but there are no McGimpseys. However there is a 60 year old David McGimpsey in the 1901 census (free at census.nationalarchives.ie/) & a 72 year old in the 1911 both in Newtownards. Wife is Catherine in 1901 but not there in 1911. 

I couldn't find a death or burial record for him I'm afraid.

No McGimpseys in the Tithe Applotments but Griffiths Valuation (free at www.askaboutireland.ie/) has lots of  McGimpseys in Down including 2 Roberts in Donaghadee & a David in Newtownards in 1863.

No luck with David or Robert's baptism records either.

Attached is a record of birth for David John McGimpsey dated May 30, 1869, parents David McGimpsey a labourer living in Killaughy & Catherine Copeland.  Also attached is a record of death for Sarah Copeland dated Feb 16, 1889 showing her sister, Catherine, living in Louriescourse. 

David John McGimpsey was my great cousin. He died in a farm accident here in New Zealandat at Temuka on December 4th 1893.

His father was also David John McGimpsey & was my great grandfather. 1839/1914. His wife was Catherine Copeland 1839/1907. At time of Catherines death they were living in Loughriescouse house number 68. When David passed away he was living at 31 Balfour Street Newtownards.
