Matthew Long (1804-1879) is my great, great grandfather. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1863 with his second wife, Sarah Thompson. I have been unable to find information about their lives in Ireland. His first wife died circa 1844 leaving leaving several children. Two sons, Matthew and Andrew followed their father to work as weavers in the mills of Connecticut. Andrew, my great grandfather, married Eliza(beth) Petticrew on March 20 1860. Their civil marriage record lists their parish as Drumbeg and Andrew's address as being Ballymacbrennan. My grandmother, Susanna, was born in 1872, in Magheraknock. Andrew and Eliza emigrated to the U.S. with their family in 1873.
Eliza(beth) Petticrew's father was William Petticrew. They listed their townland at the time of her marriage as Drennan. He was also a weaver but did not emigrate to the U.S. Any information about him and his wife, Mary Ann Murphy, would be most appreciated. According to family lore, Mary Ann's father was William Murphy, a physician.
