My Immigrant Grandfather is John WILKINSON born abt 1726 County Down, Ireland. He stated in a letter <I have not seen this one> that this is where he was born. His Uncle & an older brother named William came Pennsylvannia around 1733. He was married to Elizabeth unknown abt 1758 in Pennsylvannia. They had 7 children all born in Penn. The interesting thing is they had a John & Jehu. They moved to Virginia before 1788 where Elizabeth died & John WILKINSON married Leah NISWANGER 1789 in Frederick County, VA. John & Leah had 9 children & one was named John N WILKINSON. So they had these 2 boys named John & Jehu. Most of this info came from William Amel Sausaman, 1 jul 1971 Springfield, IL, Descendants of Irish Immigrant John Wilkinson (1726-1806) I have verified all the children from both marriages thru Court records of St. Mary's Parish, Louisiana. My direct ancestor is John & Elizabeth's 1st child; William WILKINSON b c 1759 PA; died def 1799 Duplin County, North Carolina; married to Elizabeth MOORE Duplin or New Hanover Cos, NC. They had 4 children: James McCaleb WILKINSON <my direct>, Mary, Rebecca & Jehu W. Have lots of info on these families, as I researched them for over 25 yrs looking for James McCaleb WILKINSON's parents! Believe this family was English & may have been given land during the Plantation Period. They were Presbyterians. Have Land, Marriage, Census, Court, Bible, Death, Probate & various other rec'ds.
