HI
I am hoping someone may be able to help me please. My Great great Grandfather Thomas Kelly came from Dromore. (1868-1942) I have found this information through Ancestry. I am wanting to find out more about the Kelly family and hoping I may have some relatives I can talk to. His wife was Elizabeth and they had 4 children who were Esther (my Great Grandma) Walter, Evangline and Edith. It would be great to hear from anyone who has information.

Suzanne,
There are several trees on Ancestry with this family (eg the Ferguson family tree). I am not sure that all the information on them is completely accurate. I think 2 different families may have been mixed up. Common enough on Ancestry.
One tree has Thomas & Elizabeth (maiden name apparently Milligan) with children Esther 12.8.1893, Walter c 1893, Evangeline c 1890 and Edith 31.8.1905.
I found a birth for an Edith Kelly on 31st August 1905 in Belfast. Father Thomas & mother Elizabeth Johnston:
That in turn takes me to this family in the 1901 & 1911 censuses:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Ormeau/Richardson_Street/216956/
This looks to be their marriage in 1888 in Belfast:

The Ancestry trees have Thomas dying on 24.9.1942. However I think that is a different Thomas who was an accountant.
Kelly Thomas Gaw of "Elsieville" 6 Morwyn Avenue Donaghadee county Down retired accountant died 26 September 1942 Probate Belfast 19 April to Jane Kelly the widow. Effects £675 6s. 8d.
Likewise they have Elizabeth dying on 7th Aug 1921 but I think that’s the “other” Thomas Kelly’s 1st wife.

Here’s the other family in the 1911 census:

I’ll assume your family is the one in Richardson St in 1911. If so, what would like to know about them?

Hi Élwyn.
Thank you for your reply and all
the information you have gave me .
My Great great Grandparents were Thomas and his wife was Elizabeth Johnston. I have lots of information from Ancestry regarding them. There are people who I have reached out to on Ancestry who I believe could be related but to no avail.
I was hoping that I may find some relatives to talk to so I knew what happened to Esther’s sisters throughout there life. My dad was Esthers Grandson and he passed a while ago so I have no information anymore from that side.

Suzanne,
1911 census tells you Thomas & Elizabeth had 6 children of whom 4 were still alive at that date (Esther, Evangelina, Walter & Edith).
Evangelina married Walter Goodwin in 1910:
Their son Walter is in the 1911 census. There looks to have been a daughter Evangeline on 28.9.1913 in Belfast. Also George 26.2.1916 Belfast at which date Walter Goodwin snr was in the army. Trees on Ancestry have a daughter Mary Frances Goodwin born 5.1.1923 in Downpatrick. 1930 residence is stated to be Kent. Wife Josephine is noted as dying in Belfast on 7.1.1951 (Mater Hospital). Aged 51. So did he re-marry? Tree owner (Robert Kearney Glasgow) will presumably know. Walter Goodwin died 20.12.1959 Belfast.
Walter Kelly looks to have married Mary Isabel Lyons in 1911:
Don’t see any children for them in Ireland. Don’t know what became of them.
