Looking for any information about George Scott believed to have been born about 1789.
Information from Family Search has indicated a marriage on 03 Jul 1826 to Sarah Mills at Dromore Parish, Co.Down. (Cited source: Indexing Project M70005-1; System Origin: Ireland-ODM; Source Film Number 496515)
A son Samuel Scott was born about 1830 and baptised 26 Jul 1835 at the Presbyterian Church in Killinchy, Co. Down.
I am trying to find out where and when George was born and when he emigrated to Canada.
His son Samuel was married in Quebec, Canada on 08 Mar 1859 so the time frame for his emigration was between 1835 and 1859. I don't know if George and Sarah were with him or even if Sarah was still alive. Sarah may have died in Ireland as I haven't found her on any Canadian census search.
I am trying to prove my Irish heritage so any information will help.

Have you tried looking at the original church records for information? Presbyterian registers are held in three main locations:
- in local custody
- in the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
- at the Presbyterian Historical Society http://www.presbyterianhistoryireland.com in Belfast.
PRONI has microfilm copies of almost all registers in Northern Ireland and also lists of records held by the Presbyterian Historical Society.
You should be aware though, that sometimes the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist.
It may be an idea to contact the Ulster Historical Foundation for assistance, however a fee may apply.
WIth regards to George?s emigration to Canada, you should check the National Library and Archives of Canada. They have records (incomplete) of passengers arriving in Quebec and Ontario from Ireland and Britain, pre-1865.
