I am searching for the parents of my 5th great grandfather, William Henry. Per family information, he was born in 1715 in Ireland. He came to the US in 1733ish and settled in York, South Carolina where he passed in 1819. Some family information says his original last name was Hendry and he changed it to Henry when he came to the States. I found a William Hendry, baptised at Drumbo Presbyterian Church in County Down in 1716, who's father is listed at James Hendry. Per family tradition, his father was weathy. I am looking for anyone with ties to this line to see if it's the right line. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help. - Nydia Henry Glass in Texas, United States.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.

    The following link may be of assistance to you, as it is a programme that seems to be building on excellent resources in relation to Presbyterian records and information: http://www.ancestryireland.com/irish-presbyterianism/

    You could also contact the Church at Drumbo directly as they may be better informed as to what ties exist in the local area. Perhaps, as the family were wealthy they donated money for religious items and objects for the church as many wealthy families did? You can contact them here: http://www.lisburn.com/churches/Lisburn-churches/drumbo-presbyterian-ch…;

    Remember to post any new information that you find here. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

    Best of luck with your search
