My heritage includes the Boyles & Caugheys of County Down, particularly the ARDs area.
I would be very interested in learning of present day families of these surnames who maybe interested in family history. This info may need to communicated privately.
I am particularly aware of documented Boyle births in Ballybuttle, Ballyhaft, Ballyblack, Ballyboley and Crossnamuckley with Baptisms at Ballycopeland but so far have only family rumours of Donaghadee. I would therefore be most interested in any Boyle or Caughey baptisms/ deaths/ headstones - Presbyterian circa 1750- 1900 so I can get a fuller picture.
Any advice gratefully received!
Dale

Hi Dale,
Thank you for your message.
I hope that someone with information on these families makes a connection with you and helps you further your research.
In the meantime, Presbyterian registers are held in three main locations:
- in local custody
- in the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
- at the Presbyterian Historical Society http://www.presbyterianhistoryireland.com in Belfast.
PRONI has microfilm copies of almost all registers in Northern Ireland and also lists of records held by the Presbyterian Historical Society.
For any births, deaths or marriages after 1864 you can check in civil records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

Have you tried looking in Griffith?s Valuation to see what Boyles and Caughey?s were recorded in the area 1848-64? You can check this here:
