I am a young Canadian who has recently heard of this website in our local newspaper (Ottawa Citizen) and was curious to find more information about some of my Irish ancestors. The most well recorded of which is Peter Heenan, my great great-grandfather, who was believed to be born in the county Monaghan. Any information on who to talk to or if you do know of him and/or his family would be appreciated. Here is more information of what I know.
Birth Name: Peter Heenan (Feb 19/1875 - May 12/1948) Born in County Down, Townland of Tullaree (Tullyree), Kilcoo parish, County Monaghan Occupation in Canada: Locomotive Engineer, Politician

Peter Heenan was my grandfather. I have lots of information and stories about him. I would love to know more about his family in England and Ireland. Heather Heenan

I am looking for the ancestors of my gggrandmother, BRIDGET HEENAN (dob c 1797). She married a John Kelly (dob c 1797) and had at least two children, RODERICK KELLY (dob c 1830) and CATHERINE KELLY (dob c 1832) before emigrating to Nepean, Carleton, Ontario, Canada. All documents in Canada list place of birth only as "Ireland."
It appears Bridget had a brother, WILLIAM HEENAN, who moved from Ireland to England, also.
That is all I know about the family, including the KELLY line. We believe they came from Tipperary only because they settled with a number of other emigrants from Tipperary.
