The fact that you now have a parish name should really help you in your research! Do you know what religion your grandfather was?

If he was Roman Catholic, you may be able to find him in the Catholic church records. Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be of use to you is the Irishtimes website, as they give an overview of what records are available in each parish. For the Kilmore parish, follow this link:

I have come across a few ringlands in kilmore in Co.Down.

my Family Name is Ringland. I visited the kilmore Presbyterian Church there in the Graveyard was a Hugh Ringland (The Elder) buried. I dont live far from this area. If I can be of help get in touch.
