Help needed please with any mcblain of any spelling at any time in County Down. Stuck on John McBlain/McBlane in particular, son Stewart in 1861 census Ballymullan, Bangor but in 1866 in William Street Newtownards. Don't know John's wife/Stewarts Mother. Don't know where John/Stewart born.

I did a search for the surname on the irishtimes website. The only variants that yielded any results were McBlain/MacBlain. You can see the results here:

As you can see from this, there are only 4 households in Down recorded with this name for the mid-19th century.
I also ran the name John McBlain on the Griffith's Valuation database. This is a land survey that was carried out in Ireland between 1848 and 1864. One result came back for a John McBlain in Down for 1863. The name of the civil parish this John lived in is Donaghdee. You can see these results at the following link:
