Am completely stuck with this ancestor - would appreciate any help!  Christopher William McClean, admitted Easter 1802 to Ancient Freedom of Dublin, by Service as a Smith.  In 1831 his daughter Susannah married William Christopher Magrath by Marriage License. In 1837 a Christopher McClean was reported dangersouly ill at his home in Lucan after being attacked on his way back from voting for the Conservative Registration Assoc in Dublin. The 1837 Report on Fictitious Votes has a Christopher McClean registered no 146 by birth/right of father - so presumably Christr Wm's son? This son is recorded as registered to vote in Dublin since 1832. In 1841 Christr McClean is in a Dublin newspaper report calling for support for Cons Reg Assoc. An unknown 1846 directory has a Christopher McClean, blacksmith in Lucan. In 1850 he is summonsed at Lucan Court for the repayment of monies obtained in 1844 by the Lucan Loan Society.  A Christopher McClean appears in Slaters 1851 as a Blacksmith.   In 1853 Chrstr McClean is summonsed at Lucan Court for not paying his blackmith journeyman the correct rate.   CW's son C may have lived in Dublin, but I cannot find any further trace. I do have some info on daughter Susannah's family with Wm Magrath, but not her death (or the others).  Were they all born in Lucan? Or did they migrate in?  They would seem to have been COI (have trawled Catholic records just in case & no trace there).  What other records are there - Lucan was very small at the time, so am hoping they appear in other records!

  • Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the long delay in getting back to you.

Have you checked the various Trade Directories and newspapers - Find My Past or ancestry.com will be the best bet I think
