Hi all or anybody out there for Lucan, I have just found out my great grandmother came from Lucan. Her name was Annie Helena Smythe. Her parents, as listed on her marriage certificate in Cooktown, Qld Australia in 1883, were Philip Smythe and Mary Keane. According to the certificate, Annie Helena was 21 when she married, so born about 1862, although her death certificate in 1938 states she was 79, therefore born about 1858/9
Annie married in the Catholic Church in Cooktown. The marriage cert notes she was born in Lucan and her father was a farmer.
I'd love to find any connections in the area, however remote. I'm also very interested in finding out more about farming families in Lucan in the early to late 1800s and/or what records might exist for them.
Thanks for any advice
Anne
