Just joined site and trust that I am doing things correctly. I am reasearchng relatives born in Loughshinny. Lawrence Wilde born 1857. His wife was Ellen Murrin born 1864. I should like to know about his ancestors before the family moved to Bootle, Liverpool which was before 1857. It would be nice to know if there are relatives of Lawrence still living in Loughshinny.
Thank you, Bill Davies

quick question - did Lawrence and Ellen marry in England, do you have their marriage cert ?

good possible match for the marriage shows up on the FreeBmd Index - same district as the 1911 census for the family, West Derby and the March Quarter of 1887, references are volume 8b, page 677.
A marriage cert from the GRO would give you extact date and place of marriage as well as father's names and occupations, names of witnesses etc, which can all be useful clues.
Have you found the Wilde family, e.g. Lawrence and his siblings or parents, on earlier English census returns ?

There's a baptism for a Laurence Wild showing up on the RootsIreland (pay-website) index. The year is 1857 and the parish is Rush RC, which covered Loughshinny. The father's name is matching 'Nich' (probably some variation in spelling of Nicholas). I saw on the 1911 English census that the eldest son of Lawrence and Ellen is also named Nicholas so probably named after Lawrence s father.
A transcript of the record should show you mother's name and maiden surname, and might give a more detailed location for the family within the parish. A baptism record also usually includes the names of godparents to the child, often family members.
Based just on father's name there are baptisms listed for three possible siblings for Lawrence, all sisters - Maria (1859), Rebecca (1848) and Sarah (1846).
There are just 8 people with the surname Wilde living in Holmpatrick DED on the 1901 census - all in 'Lough Shinny' - see : Wilde 1901

My wife's aunt who died 3 years ago at the age of 92, remembered attending with her parents the funeral in 1929 of fishermen, George and Christopher Wilde, who drowned with Francis Ryan when their boat sank off Loughshinny harbour in December 1929. She and her parents went to the funeral because her mother Mary Josephine (May) O'Keeffe nee O'Reilly (1894-1970) was a cousin of George and Christopher Wilde. I have not been able to establish how May O'Keeffe was related to the Wildes although I suspect that it was through her mother's line. May's mother was Sarah O'Reilly nee Mahony who was born in Baldoyle to a James Mahony and Mary Arnold probably before the civil registration of RC BMDs began in 1864. Sarah was married to John O'Reilly (1858-1900) who was a merchant sailor as was Sarah's brother in-law, Michael Anderson. Sarah herself was a stewardess on the SS Yarrow which sailed between Dublin, Glasgow and the Isle of Man. Sarah had siblings called Catherine Anderson nee Mahony (1864) and James Mahony (c1868). Sarah, her siblings and her parents were described interchangeably in various civil and church records as Mahony and McMahon. I know that the maiden name of George and Christopher Wilde's mother was Elizabeth McMahon and I wonder if this is where the connection was between the Wildes and May O'Keeffe and her brother, John 'Nipper' O'Reilly (1896-1945)? I would be very grateful if anybody had information they could share to substantiate this supposition?
