I have a Patrick (aka John and Joseph) Dames and his wife Ann Anderson who came from Dublin to Nottingham before 1835 - when their first son was baptised.
Patrick was born between 1804 - 1811; Ann was born 1805 - 1813 - the were Roman Catholic.
Childrens names (in case they were old family names) were Thomas, Robert, MaryAnn, Joseph, John and Julia Ellen Ann.
Has anyone come across any other Dames in Dublin in the early 1800's?
I have been searching for them for over 10 years! With no luck.
Many thanks

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your message.
Do you know which parish in Dublin the family came from? Were they from the county or Dublin city? You could do a search of Church records for information on the family, however you need the parish name to do this. Do you have any documentation pertaining to any of the Dames which mentions something more specific than Dublin?
Have you tried looking into their emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure so this may be a place to find more information-and perhaps even an exact place of origin. The UK National Archives may help you do this. Here is the link: : http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
Other websites which may help in your research are :
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
I know that you have already posted some very good information on the family, but if you come across anymore-especially a parish name, or townland, please post it. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.
Kind regards,
