My name is William Gould.  My grandmother was Mary Josephine Lamb, born 18 November 1911 in Dublin.  I am trying to find her parents and other ancestors.  I have that Mary immigrated to the United States when she was 15.  She came to the United States on a ship that left from Italy.  According to what my father remembers his mother telling him and the records he has, her father was from Newbridge, Kildare.  Mary and her siblings were baptized at St. Peter and Paul church.  Mary's parents were married in Belfast.  Her father is buried in Glasnevin Cemetary.  According to the records we have, Mary said she lived at 18 Hendricks Street in Dublin.

My daughter is very interested in her Irish heritage, and we are trying to find our ancestors from Ireland.  Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

William Gould

  • Hi William,   I'm not sure if you've seen this before  but this is the 1911 census for Dublin  and I think this is most likely the family you are looking for as the father John, is born in Kildare and the address is a good match (18 Hendrick Lane ).  The fact that Mary and her siblings were baptised in St. Peter and Paul Church would tie in too as this is the right area.   Mary Josephine wouldn't have been on the census as she was born later that year.  I tried to attach the link but it wont let me so I have attached a copy of the census return.  If you go on the the national archives of ireland website and search the census for John Lamb Dublin you should see the record.  fc regards Caroline.
