Seeking information on William Anderson who married Anne Fisher. William was a captain in the navy.

Their daughter Amelia was born about 1804 in Dublin. 14 Aug 1826 she married Stephen Dalton at St Georges, Church of Ireland, Dublin (I have been told it no longer exists). She and Stephen, and their family, miograted to Australia in the 1850s.

  • Hi Ian,

Church records may be of use to you. Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870 are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.

  • There is a St George parish-pages here at Ireland Reaching Out, if you desire to switch from county Dublin to St.Gerorge parish Dublin.

Although we are not certain how to best advise researchers, or the site, regards: transfering, the handling of old parishes, changes in parish boundaries, or overlapping parish interests.

Regards your inquirey, we have confirmed:

There are several individuals in the Griffiths Valuation for St.Gerorge, who have a similar names, or surnames, who might be your people, connected to your people, or may not be related at all. The date of the valuation for St.George has yet to be determined (not stated on the record page posted link from here at this parish website page).

We also see the Dalton name amoungst researchers here at ireland Reaching Out.

there was no marriage index found yet for Wm Anderson nor William Anderson and Fisher. Though it is a common name in Dublin.

Birth or baptism index records for Stephen or Emily are inconclusive

Military records or pension records index have not been checked yet (especially considering he was a Captain), nor yet city directories,.

We invite others  to help with this search.
