Good evening. I am searching for any leads in locating an ancestor of mine who entered an Ursuline convent here in Scotland on the 8th september 1857. Records at the convent in Edinburgh indicate her father as being a Richard Flynn and her mother a Bridget Rock or Rook. She was born on the 17th October 1833 in County Leitrim, residing in Inismecraid. I cannot find Inismecraid in County Leitrim. The handwriting is very clear and I can only presume that it was transcribed wrongly. Her name was Winefride Flynn. Can anyone help me?
I am a 66 year old Scot who has Irish antecedents on both my father's side of my family and my mother's side of my family. The Nolans came from Longford, County Longford and the Noonans from Kildorrery, County Cork.

I forgot to add to the above post that the ancestor was a Winefride Flynn.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a Winefride Flynn baptismal record around 1833 and no Flynn baptismal records with a father named Richard. The Inishmagrath RC baptismal records start in 1835 and if she was born in 1833, records would not be available.
Please consider adding Winefride Flynn to our XO Chronicles site and possibly someone will see a connection.
