Hello. I hope this message finds you well.  

I am trying to find out more information on Mary/Margaret MacSharry.  

In 1890, on Roman Catholic papers, she married Patrick Rooney, 1858-1934, from Glasdrumman.  Patrick Rooney was a son of Thomas Rooney, 1813-1898, and Anne nee Hunt, 1818-1868. 

Mary MacSharry stated on her Catholic marriage papers she was 24 and her father was John MacSharry.  She stated she resided in Rocktown.  

In the 1901 Census she stated her name as Margaret Rooney.  Age 35. Born in County Leitrim.

In 1904 when she passed as Margaret Rooney, her age was 38.  

This would put her birth in the year of 1866.  I have searched extensively for her birth but have found nothing.  

Any help would be much appreciated. Who her mother was. Where her parents married. Siblings.

    On the subscription site Roots Ireland I located a September 4 1864 baptism for a Mary MacSarrly (as transcribed by Roots Ireland) with father John MacSarrly and mother Eliza Rooney. Baptism was in Killasnet RC church. Could this be your Mary? I did not find a civil birth record.

    Hello. Thanks for this response. Much appreciated.  I do not think this is my Mary MacSharry.  I have seen this record of 1864 too.  

     

    In 1890 when Mary MacSharry married she used the forename Mary.  In the 1901 Census the forename Margaret.  On her death papers the forename Margaret.  Both ages in 1901 and 1904, 35 and 38, put her birth in A.D. 1866.  

    Rocktown in County Leitrim seems to be a bit of mystery.

    There was a Margaret MacSharry Born 7th July 1864 (Registration Date 18th July 1864)  Address: Dargoon Innishmagrath  Parish Drunkeeran County Leitrim

    Father John MacSharry (Farmer)   Mother Mary Maguire.   They also had a Son called John Born 20th June 1869  (Registration Date 24th June 1869)

    Also there was a Patrick Rooney Died at the age of 65yrs (Farmer) Parish Manorhamilton Co.Leitrim  Informant Pat Rooney (Son) Address: Linsnabrack
