I am looking for any further details of the family of Mary McCafferty - born in the Boa Island in 1836. She left to go to Glasgow with her parents John McCafferty (1807-1857) (farm labourer) who looks to have died of famine fever in Glasgow from the Scottish records and Margaret McGoldrick (sometimes spelt McGourlick) - who was born in 1813 in Ireland and died in Scotland in 1867. I have some informatin on both John and Margaret's parents. According to the Margaret's death certificate - her father was William McGoldrick/McGourlick - farm labourer and her mother was Rebecca Ferguson. John McCafferty's parents are listed as Felix McCafferty and Rebecca Walker. I would be interested in any information about this family in the Boa Island records - including confirmation of whether John and Margaret were also born in this area.

You don?t say what denomination your family were but I?ll assume RC.
Bo Island falls into two parishes. The civil parishes of Templecarn for the west part of the island and Drumkeeran for the eastern.
Respectively these are the RC parishes of Carn and Magheraculmoney. Unfortunately neither has records that cover the years you are interested in, except possibly for Margaret?s birth in 1836.
Carn?s earliest records start in 1851 and Magheraculmoney in 1836. I think it will prove fairly tricky establishing where your ancestors were born, particularly so for labourers who moved around a bit to find work, and who left few traces in official records at that time.
I don?t know if the Magheraculmoney RC records are on-line anywhere. There is however a copy held in the National Library in Dublin, and another in PRONI, the public record office, in Belfast.
