Apparently my great great grandfather (Joseph John McDonnell) was born in Thurles and married a Catherine Maher. They immigrated to Australia and none of the family has any idea of their heritage. They left no stories or documents linking their heritage to Thurles. It was all word-of-mouth. Anxious to find out about our Irish ancestry.
