Hello,

I am looking for information on my great grandparents and their children. Patrick (1820-1873) and Margaret Gilroy (1828-1906) Cleary.  They lived in Lisnaskea. I have death records for Patrick and Margaret plus 1901 and 1911 Census.  Also Griffiths Valuation and some revisions.  I have been unable to locate any burial records for Patrick and Margaret. I do have baptismal records for the children, Biddy, Ann, Mary,Thomas,Margaret,Edward, Patrick, James, and Catherine from 1850-1869 that list Knockninny as the parish. The only child I have information on is James who took over the farm after his parents died.  Any other advice or help would be much appreciated.  Irish World suggested I try Galloon as they are next to Kinawley parish. Thanks !

  • Knockninny is an RC parish so I am guessing your family was RC. Unless the church has records in it's own possession there appears to be no records pre 1855.

Shows the state of RC records available elsewhere. The individual churches may have more but you would need to contact them directly.

There are a couple of Gilroy entries in the Kinawley C of I records.

  • Hello Bob,

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, my family was RC. I always forget to include that info. I spoke to the priest at St Ninndh's in Kinawley.  He informed me that the church did not have any records as they were turned over to Cavan Genealogy.  Cavan did not have any records either. So the search continues.  I will look into the C of I and see what comes up.

    Thanks,Bev
