Elizabeth Neville (Fermanagh) married a John Raycroft (Raecroft) from Sligo and they emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the 1820s. The boat they took to go up the St. Lawrence River burned and sunk and they lost everything. They homesteaded land in Lanark County and struggled. John died in 1833 leaving Eliza destitute with her children. Their cabin burned down. Each generation after that has improved on their living conditions. Eliza was quite a character judging from the records.

You mention Eliza was quite a character from the records. Her second husband Hercules was also. Where did you gett his information on Eliza. What does it include.
Thanks

Done 1859 shows only 4 Nevilles in Fermanagh. 2 for Henry ? probably same individual. James and Edward.
Edward was in Faugher, Devenish Parish and rented from Zachariah Paterson. In 1841 Zachariah was living there with his family but no Nevilles. Edward arrived there obviously between 1841 and 1859.
There was an Edward in Tullymargy, wife Susan, sons William, James and Edward.
The other references were for Enniskillen Parish, Knockennis townland, which is North East of Tempo.
In 1901 there were Nevilles in both Knockennis and Faugher.
The earlier references were for
In 1689 a documents has signatures including
Francis Neville , Burgess
There were several mentions of Nevilles in Kilskeery Parish in neighbouring Co Tyrone.
Neville, George Derryvullen Irvinestown 1835 who may be same man below
Also a marriage in Derryvullan North for George who lived in Irvinestown

Hi Todd,
I am sorry that you did not get my original response. It was my inabilities with the system. I am aware of Hercules too. I got my original information from Max Sutherland, a researcher in Ottawa. He had bought the old Raycroft lands in Darling and wanted to learn the story of the original settlers. He spent much time looking into the records in Ottawa. My husband and I travelled through the area in 2011 and, thanks to a knowlegable historian in the area, connected us with Max Sutherland and a distantly related Noble Raycroft who is still farming in the area. I can fill you in on many details if you are interested. I am wondering how you know about Hercules and what information that you have about the family in Ireland. I am interested in JOhn Raycroft, native of Sligo, Ireland and of course Elizabeth Neville who was either a native of Fermanaugh or Mayo.?? Noble Raycroft says that Eliza was from Fermanaugh but somewhere I got the idea that she was from Mayo. Maybe it was something that Max said. At any rate, I can not find any proof one way or the other. Thanks for any help you might have.

Hi,
I think your information is too late for my purposes. John Raycroft and Eliza Neville came to Quebec City Canada in 1823 on the Sally. They transferred to the deSalaberry and started the trip upriver to the military settlement of Perth. The boat caught fire and they lost all their possessions and possibly one child. They made their way to Perth and were allotted their acerage in Darling county, north of Perth. John died in the fall of 1833 and their cabin burned down at some point. Eliza was left with 6 children to feed and successfully got a cow from some compassionate official in Perth. I believe she got involved with Hercule White soon after this. In 1850 her brother Michael, a widower, came out to Canada from Ireland with his daughter Elizabeth (19) and Jane(5). Elizabeth married her cousin Noble. I can not find any record or Michael staying on in the Lanark area. Nor can I find any record of a Michael Neville in Ireland around that time. I would be happy for any help you might have on this.
