Looking for Information abour Robert Abraham (Sept 1809- Apr 2, 1890) And Mary Guildford (Maybe Gifford) (June 1822-Sept 25, 1915) . He was born in Fermanagh and moved to Donegal. Both may have have lived in a town called Pettigo. They left Donegal for Canada in 1842, married in Montreal, Quebec in 1845 and subsequently moved to Chatham, Kent County, Ontario.
This is all I have about them in Ireland. Can anyone supply more info?
Thanks,
Michael Abraham (great grandson)

Griffiths shows 9 Abrahams. This would be c. 1859.
Some of the C of I records have been transcribed but none of them show Robert c. 1809. However even if you find a Robert, establishing he is your man is a problem without some other corroborating data. It is possible Robert followed the traditional naming pattern, and if so his first son would be named after his father.

Hello Micheal. I have just come across this message, as I am currently working on my family tree. My name is David Abraham and I live in Scotland. My family, going back a few generations come from Pettigo. I am trying to link in what information you have provided to my family tree, but have had no luck yet. I am convinced that the family's are linked and going by Robert's date of birth only, he is possibly the brother of my great, great, great grandfather Thomas Abraham born about 1798. If you drop me an email, I will pass what information I have on. In the meantime, I will endeavour to find the link.

Hello David,
Please use this email: m.abraham@rogers.com
I have been working with a geneoligist in Dublin since the summer. No success yet. We are runoured to have jewish roots as well. I've been in tough with a Jewish geneologisy as well. He needs more info before looking at records. Seems some disappeared in the four Courts fire.
I have discovered a distant relative here in Toronto, who is related to early 19th century Abrahams from Pettigo, who settled in Ontario. We haven't made a family tree connection yet. I think she got some information from some Scottish Abraham relatives though. I'll get in touch with her and forward the info.
Hope to hear from you,
Michael

My Abraham ancestors also came from Pettigo, County Fermanagh. William Abraham was born in 1817 (I believe) and he married Margery Maxwell in 1845 in Templecarne Parish. His father's name was Thomas Abraham, but I don't know anything else about the family. Margery's father was James Maxwell. William and Margery had a son, Thomas, born in Brookhill (Pettigo) before the family emigrated to Canada around 1848. Thomas was my great-grandfather. Any further information about the Abraham or Maxwell families would be most appreciated.

Hi Linda. Nice to meet you. I didn't notice your post sooner. I have researched as much as I can from online sources and old newspapers, but now I'd like to get more information about the Abraham and Maxwell families in Ireland, if possible. I found Marjorie's brothers, some of whom lived in Huron County too. I grew up there. If you'd like to contact me, my email is cnicholson29@rogers.com. Cindy
