On 7 Aoril 1837 Rosanna Glancy was convicted of Stealing Clothes. She was tried at Fermanagh and her sentence was transportation to Australia for 7 years. In the NSW Australia Convict Indents 1788-1842 she is listed as a Native of Fermanagh and her trade Children's Maid. She was transported from Dublin on the ship 'Sir Charles Forbes' on 11 August 1837 and arrived in Sydney Australia on 25 December 1837.
Rosanna is my G-G-Grandmother and I would love to find out her family history in Ireland, however unfortunately there are no records in Australia of her parents names or places of birth. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.
With thanks, Cheryl Ryan

Hi, Do you know what year (approx) she was born? What were her children's names? Thanks.

Based on Convict Ident records (matching name, trial date and ship) it looks like Rosanna was born about 1818, native place 'Fermanagh', the record also notes her as 'Children's Maid', 'Roman Catholic' can read and single, there's also a previous conviction mentioned of 3 Months 15 days, and gives a basic description - height 5ft, Dark ruddy and freckled, brown hair, grey eyes, and some tattoos ; C+R on upper right arm, cross and five dots of back of right hand, and dot on back of left hand.
As far as I know at the time the Assize Court for Fermanagh was held in the town of Enniskillen.Shane Wilson, IrelandXO Volunteer ☘
