I am looking for relatives of my paternal grandmother's family. Her name was Margaret Mary Mannion and I believe that she came to America aboard the SS Umbria arriving 2 July 1908. I also believe that she was traveling with her cousin Kate Walsh. Her father was Thomas Mannion and mother Mary Walsh Mannion. I have found a record for a marriage of Thomas Mannion to Mary Walsh in Kilkervin, Galway registered at Oughterard. I have also found Thomas Mannion in the Griffiths Valuation along with a Thomas Walsh.
My sisters and I will be visiting Ireland in late May and early June this year and would like to visit the area where my grandmother was from. Any help identifying family and the correct area to visit would be greatly appreciated.

Mary:
Your family lived in Cloghbrack Upper townland in Ross civil parish which is in Connemara. The 1901 and 1911 census records are below. In the 1901 record, you will note that Kate Walsh (11) niece was living with the family. I presume this is the same Kate who emigrated with Margaret Mary. Let me know if this is not your family.

I'm about 95% sure that this is my family, however I have a cousin who believes there was a different Margaret Mary who came over to America at a different time. Thanks for the quick reply, I've saved the two censuses for my family records. We are visiting Connemara when my sisters and I come to Ireland this spring.

Thank you for your response. I have purchased the records for Margaret and Kate from Ellis Island. It looks like they were retained until Martin's wife, Bridget, came to collect them. I have both records. The Kerrigan girls were met my their sister Mrs. M Kerrigan and the entry record was stamped as a NON_IM Alein. It looks like they were going to Pittsburg Pennsylvania.
Margaret worked in Broklyn New York for a time and then moved to Butte Montana to be with her brothers Thomas and Michael.

There are also a lot of Mannion's living in Kilcreaventy in Galway near Tuam. It seems to be a very common name in Galway, you can find them in the 1901 and 1911 census.
