I am hopeful this message gets to Sister de Lourdes Fahy. I am continuing the genealogy of the Connell family of Lissatunny. Michael Connell (1827-1894) was my 2nd Great Grandfather. He was a Tailor. I have gathered much information on my family but I recently uncovered a new person and wanted Sister's input.

I recently found a marriage record in the Church of Ireland in 1883 of a Catherine Connell of Raheen. She married Adolph Lack who was a Corporal in the Hospital Corp in the Barracks in Gort. She lists her father as Michael Connell, a Tailor. Her witness was was Annie O'Hara. My thought is that this Catherine Connell is my Michael Connell's daughter even though she married in the Church of Ireland. Raheen is not in Kiltartan but it is a few fields directly to the west of Lissatunny. Under a mile. I have found that there was an estate house there owned by the O'Hara family. My presumption is that Catherine Connell was a servant here and her witness was a member of the O'Hara family. Catherine's home in Lissatunny would have been very close. Michael Connell was married to Bridget Healy of Newhall. They had my Great Grandfather Patrick (no birth record) John (1857), Annie (1860, no record but memtioned in Sister's book. She married John McNevin of Gort), Honor (1865-1873) and possibly a Susan (1865 or 1866 but the mother is lsited as Bridget Rourke). Now I have found this Catherine Connell. Anyway, I'm curious what Sister thinks. Also, does anyone know much about this house in Raheen? What was the Hospital Corp? I presume it was part of the English Army. As a post script... I found Catherine Connell living in London with her husband Adolph Lack in 1891. He was actually German. He also died the following year. So I have the beginning of a good book. A German in the English Army marries an Irish girl from Kiltartan.

P.S I'll be over on April 8th. I would love to meet Sister and thank her for that wonderful book she wrote!

Merry Christmas to all.
